Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to develop learning outcomes rubric that can be used in university general education, focusing on creative and integrated competencies. Based on the data of 304 students taking the S university s liberal arts course, the validity and reliability of the factor structure of creative and integrated competencies learning outcome rubric were checked.
Creative competency can be defined as the creative thinking ability that contributes to the discovery of new and innovative solutions or alternatives through the use of a wide range of ideas and resources. The learning outcomes of creative competency consisted of five factors: solving problems, embracing contradiction, innovative thinking, variety of ideas, variety of sources. Integrated competency are integrated thinking ability to learn a wide range of contents in various academic areas and to find links between different disciplines and to create a new synthesis with an integrated approach. The learning outcomes of integrated competency consisted of four factors: connections to experience, transfer to discipline, integrated communication, reflection and self-assessment.
The three levels of rubric of creative and integrated competencies were developed based on identified sub-factors. Although the developed fabric is a series of criteria set up to grade performance, it would be desirable to consider the direction in which efforts will be made to improve creative and integrated thinking in class design rather than being used to evaluate performance. |
