Design and Implementation of Character Education for freshmen in university

Abstract
This study suggested that it is redesigned and operated as a character education that is related to the major rather than the existing virtue - oriented character education. And we examined quantitative and qualitative degree of character cultivation by the effect of education. First, the precedent study was reviewed and virtue of the character education was selected. Second, we designed classroom management procedures, teaching-learning methods and evaluation methods. As a result, it was confirmed that the students who participated in the class had significantly increased their character test scores after the class. In addition, the students suggested that this class was an opportunity to practice the virtues of character that was learned and that it was good to think about it in connection with the major. This study describes details the process of redesign of the character education and actual operation, discusses exposed limitations during operation and educational implication, and also gives suggestions for the successful character education design and operation.
