Abstract |
We run the liberal arts course ‘Computer Application’ at the Korea National Sport University in connection with the national certificates ITQ in order to enhance students ability to use computers for various applications. In this paper, we investigate the effect by analysing the results of two trial examinations and two surveys conducted at the beginning and the end of the courses. The major findings of the investigation are as follows. First, the computer use time of students at the Korea National Sports University is far less than the average time of university students in Korea. Second, after taking the course students self perception on their computer use and their scores on the trial examinations for ITQ have significantly increased. It reflects that their ability of the computer practice is enhanced. Third, students participation in the class is the most relevant factor to the scores of the trial examinations, and those students, who expect that the certificates will be of value in future, respond that the course help improve their scores on the examination. Fourth, the trial examination scores at the end of the course show that more than 80% of the students can pass the real ITQ examination. This shows that running the course in connection with the ITQ certificate is effective in enhancing students ability for the computer application. Based on these finding we discuss some efficient ways to run the course ‘Computer Application’. |
